Pida
This song is about the tough life and death of a Sherpa mountain guide on the dark side of Mount Everest. Sherpa people are widely known for their bravery and care in leading tourists to the tops of high mountains. Young mountain climbers from poor Sherpa families can make a good income working as mountain guides, but it’s dangerous work. This song is written from the point of view of a mourning Sherpa family - “In the hopes of earning wealth, death turned up at our door.”
